Sustainable Trailworks (STW) is owned by Hardy Avery.
Hardy formed STW in 2007, and since has planned & designed trail networks in VT and ME for diverse clients including the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation, the United States Forest Service, Vermont Mountain Bike Association (VMBA), Stowe Mountain Bike Club, New England Mountain Mountain Bike Association (NEMBA), and many private clients.
During the 12 years as trail manager for the Stowe Mountain Bike Club, Hardy built popular trails including Bear’s Trail, Pipeline, Kimmer’s, and many more.
Hardy has led workshops for VMBA and NEMBA, and has led countless volunteer trail workdays.
American Trails presented Hardy with the 2004 State Trail Worker award for Vermont. His work has been recognized by the regional and national recreation community, including mostly recently the designation of the shared-use Blueberry Lake trail network in Warren as a “Gateway Network” by the International Mountain Bicycling Association.
